Josh Hassin

So as I’ve been working on this project, I’ve realized that the awesome, world-stopping, creative, collective art projects that I think are out there are, in fact, a lot more sparse than I thought….

Because of this I emalied Art House Coop and asked if they knew of anymore groups that did as ‘collective’ and large scale projects as them. I quickly got a response back, and as I thought, while many many ‘projects’ out there, there aren’t many other HUGE groups such as Art House Coop. However, they did tell me about someone they knew named Josh Hassin, who has begun to dabble in collective arts. Josh Hassin is an animator, designer, and director. You know those moments when you see the Playstation logo emerge from a million flying pieces, or when a news segment is about to begin and there is a crazy, yet intriguing graphic intro piece with the dramatic music? Yeah, he’s the person that does those things! On top of his insane amount of big-name accounts, he also headed a project with high school students in forming a music video for Michael Andrew’s and his song “Bubble in Space”. This is what he said:

“I recently had the opportunity to work with my good friend Jeremy Farson and 100 of his talented art students at High Tech High International San Diego. We made a music video for our friend and musician Michael Andrews and his song “Bubbles in Space.

It was an amazing journey that started with shooting live action footage, editing it down, printing out each frame for the kids to draw, letting them go crazy, and then scanning it all back in.

I always enjoy collaborating with talented artists, this project was no exception.”

The video turned out splendid, and I’m pretty sure those high school students have been insanely inspired to continue with their own creative endeavors. Here’s the video:
